It doesn’t matter how old you are, if someone hands you a piece of chalk and gives you a blank sidewalk, you’re immediately transported back to being 8 years old. Combine that with the fact that all the cool people on Pinterest are turning EVERYTHING into chalkboards, and thus our event idea was born! Host a chalk party and make your residents of ANY age happy. Invite your guests to bring an item they want to turn into a chalkboard, and you provide the rest. Buy chalkboard paint at any home improvement store or use a Do-It-Yourself recipe.
Possible items to paint include (but definitely not limited to!): picture frames, cookie sheets, magnet boards, wine glasses, mason jars and cheese trays.
Entertain the kids by making spray sidewalk chalk and let them channel their inner artist as they create murals on the ground. Draw hopscotch courses and bring balls for foursquare. Have a hose on hand and promise you’ll clean up!
Recipe for spray chalk:
1 tsp. washable tempura paint 1 cup of hot water 1/2 cup of cornstarch squirt of dishwashing liquid 1 squirt bottle
